The Primary School Christmas Challenge filled the school with colour and creativity as pupils and their families designed unique festive stockings, with winners announced by Headmaster Agostinho Moreira on the last day of term in a joyful celebration of our school community.
This year’s Primary School Christmas Challenge brought colour, glitter and a great deal of imagination to our school corridors — and judging by the smiles on everyone’s faces, it was a huge success.
In the weeks leading up to the end of term, pupils and their families were invited to design and decorate their own Christmas stockings. What followed was a joyful explosion of creativity. From traditional red-and-white designs to bold, modern patterns, each stocking told its own story. Some featured Father Christmas, others sparkles, trees, hearts, stars and even tiny festive scenes — all lovingly crafted at home with the help of parents, grandparents and siblings.
The finished stockings were proudly displayed in the school hall, turning it into a festive gallery that quickly became a favourite stopping point for pupils, staff and visitors alike. It was impossible not to pause and admire the effort that had gone into every single entry.
The excitement reached its peak on the last day of term, when the winners were announced by our Headmaster, Agostinho Moreira. As names were called, cheers and applause filled the playground, celebrating not only the winning designs but also the creativity and teamwork behind them. However, as many pupils quickly pointed out, choosing just a few winners was no easy task – every stocking was special in its own way.
More than a competition, the Christmas Challenge was a wonderful reminder of what our school community does best: working together, supporting one another and celebrating creativity. It brought families into the festive spirit and gave pupils the chance to show that imagination, effort and teamwork truly make the season brighter.
A huge thank you to all the families who took part and helped make this challenge so memorable and to the English teachers who made it all possible. With stockings this good, Father Christmas might even feel a little competition next year!
